Throughout the next four weeks of voting (ending Nov. 28), fans can select their favorite moment and join the conversation using the hashtag #NHLGreatestMoments. The original 64 moments, as determined by a Blue Ribbon panel consisting of broadcasters from NHL national rightsholders NBC Sports Group, NHL Network™, Sportsnet and TVA Sports, were placed into a bracket-style format, and divided into four regions: Hart Region, Norris Region, Calder Region and Vezina Region (see below for voting schedule). Each moment is brought to life with a video vignette on the site.

Round 3 features the following head-to-head pairings for the remaining 16 Greatest NHL Moments:

• Teemu Selanne sets rookie goal-scoring record (March 2, 1993) vs. Ron Hextall becomes first goalie in NHL history to shoot puck into empty net and score (Dec. 8, 1987)

• Wayne Gretzky extends NHL record consecutive point-scoring streak to 51 games (Jan 27, 1984) vs. Bobby Orr becomes the first defenseman to have 100 points in a season (March 15, 1970)

• Gordie Howe becomes the first player in NHL history to reach 1,000 career points (Nov. 27, 1960) vs. Jacques Plante dons a mask after being hit in the face with a shot, beginning a new era for goaltending (Nov. 1, 1959)

• Gretzky becomes the fastest player to reach 1,000 points (Dec. 19, 1984) vs. Gretzky scores five goals to reach 50-goal plateau in a record-setting 39 games (Dec. 30, 1981)

• Mario Lemieux becomes first player to score goals five different ways in the same game (Dec. 31, 1988) vs. New York Islanders complete sweep of Edmonton Oilers to win their fourth consecutive Stanley Cup® championship (May 17, 1983)

• Bobby Baun scores in overtime on a broken leg to force a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup® Final (April 23, 1964) vs. Martin Brodeur becomes NHL’s all-time wins leader with 552 (March 17, 2009)

• Coach Scotty Bowman retires after winning a record ninth Stanley Cup® championship with the Detroit Red Wings (June 13, 2002) vs. Darryl Sittler sets NHL single-game record with 10 points (six goals and four assists) (Feb. 7, 1976)

• Orr ends the Bruins’ 29-year Stanley Cup® drought by scoring 40 seconds into overtime to complete a sweep of the St. Louis Blues (May 10, 1970) vs. Colorado captain Joe Sakic hands the Stanley Cup® to Ray Bourque to raise in his final NHL game (June 9, 2001)

Round 3 voting concludes Nov. 7, with Round 4 voting taking place from Nov. 8-14. The semifinal and final rounds of voting will be Nov. 15-21 and Nov. 22-28, respectively.

The Greatest NHL® Moment will be announced during the 2017 Scotiabank NHL100 Classic™ on Saturday, Dec. 16, featuring the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa (7 p.m. ET, CBC, TVA Sports, NBCSN).
