Darryl Sutter And Dustin Brown After Losing 4-0 To The Washington Capitals

Darryl Sutter post-game after a 4-0 road loss to the Washington Capitals...

from Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider,

On Dustin Brown referencing a lack of emotion:
He did? He made a bad change on the first goal.

On whether “emotion” plays into the team’s road struggles:
It’s more than emotion that goes into a game. If it was just emotion, then that would win or lose every game. There’s a lot more that goes into it in terms of who’s out there for us and who’s out there for them.

On the unraveling being uncharacteristic, and whether it’s difficult to get away from the routine:
We’re not the same team. It’s a quite a bit different team. We’ve been able to manage it at home, but a little bit more difficult on the road. [Reporter: You mean the way this team has played?] No, the personnel.

I have to wonder if the number of games the Kings have played since 2012 has finally caught up to them.  They’ve had a bit of player turnover, but the core of the team has remained pretty consistent the last three years.  I really hope they can figure things out and get back to winning.

Hockeytown Overhaul, it’s not just Voynov…Deano’s loyalty essentially meant that Greene stayed and Mitchell walked. I know that there’s a 5 or 6 year difference in ages, but the on ice comparison is fairly drastic. Greene is a good locker room guy who has a highlight check every couple of weeks but he’s slower than molasses. Mitchell can play big minutes on either the 2nd or 3rd pairing….and improve his partner’s game. With Voynov and Mitchell gone, the D is average at best.

To add to shazam88’s comments, the Kings also have a rookie that should be easing his way into the league instead of trying to fill one of the big holes. Not to mention Doughty playing close to 30 minutes a night, thereby leaving him less effective overall.

@Canucklehead - I have wondered the same thing. But they were playing similarly bad around this time last year as well, so the home stretch will let us know if they have finally run out gas or not.
