Connor McDavid Should Be A Hart Memorial Trophy Finalist

from Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun,

Put Connor McDavid’s name on the ballots.

There aren’t many card-carrying members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association who haven’t written it: “Connor McDavid can’t win his second straight Hart Trophy as the Most Valuable Player in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers 15-points out of the playoffs.”

The other day the PHWA elected to bring in transparency this year, revealing which writers voted for which players, effectively making it awkward to change many of their minds about that.

But six games from now if McDavid continues to do as he’s been doing in his second annual Big Finish, everybody is going to have to re-think it No. 97s eligibility for the NHL’s ultimate honour.
