Chris Stewart Signing With The Anaheim Ducks Is Official

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed right wing Chris Stewart to a one-year contract through the 2015-16 NHL season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Stewart, 27 (10/30/87), has scored 129-135=264 points with 535 penalty minutes (PIM) in 463 career NHL games with Colorado, St. Louis, Buffalo and Minnesota. Stewart has reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs on four occasions, earning 5-3=8 points with 18 PIM. A 28-goal scorer in 2009-10 and 2010-11, he also set career bests in assists (36) and points (64) during the 2009-10 campaign with the Avalanche. In 2012-13, the Toronto, Ontario native led St. Louis in scoring (18-18=36), goals and power-play goals (6), and co-led in game-winning goals (3).

Selected by Colorado in the first round (18th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft, Stewart split the 2014-15 season with the Buffalo Sabres and Minnesota Wild. In 81 games overall, the 6-2, 231-pound winger collected 14-22=36 points with 88 PIM. Opening the season with Buffalo, Stewart was acquired by Minnesota on Mar. 2, 2015 in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft. He posted 3-8=11 points with a +4 rating 25 PIM in 20 games with the Wild, helping the club clinch the first Western Conference Wild Card berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Stewart went on to appear in eight postseason games with Minnesota, earning two assists (0-2=2) with two PIM.

Reports yesterday stated contract is for $1.7M.
