from Eric Stephens of the OC Register,
Filling a need up front after trading away two young forwards at the NHL draft, the Ducks are nearing an agreement Saturday with veteran winger Chris Stewart on a one-year contract....
Stewart, 27, played in 81 games with Buffalo and Minnesota last season and posted a combined 14 goals, 22 assists and 88 penalty minutes. He had modest success with the Wild after a deadline trade to Minnesota, netting three goals and getting eight assists in 20 games.
The playoffs weren't as successful for Stewart as he had just two assists in eight contests. He also suffered an upper-body injury in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals against Chicago and didn't return in the four-game sweep by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks.
