from Chris Stevenson at the Toronto Sun,
63 - The number of combined wins for the three California-based NHL teams. Teams used to look forward to a trip through Southern California, but the big Anaheim Ducks (22-7-5) and gritty L.A. Kings (21-7-4) have a combined home record of 22-4-4 (the Ducks still haven’t lost in regulation at home). The Sharks (12-6-6), meanwhile, are 11-1-3 at home this season. That’s a total of 33-5-7 for the home teams on the Left Coast.
6 - The number of teams with a negative goal differential -- there are 16 of them overall -- in the Metropolitain Division, another illustration of how weak the Metro has become compared to other divisions. Of the 16 teams with a negative goal differential, 10 of them reside in the East as of Thursday. Unsurprisingly, the worst goal differential in the league belongs to the Buffalo Sabres at minus-40. Second worst is the N.Y. Islanders at minus-34.
118 - The number of wins Western Conference teams have racked up against its Eastern counterparts as of Thursday. The West is 118-49-20 against the East, led by the Los Angeles Kings and the Vancouver Canucks, who each have 11 wins against the East. Only four East teams have winning records against the West: Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals.
