A Light Night Of Hockey Notes

- Zach Hyman becomes a free agent at the end of the next NHL season and the Leafs are in a challenging position with the gritty winger. If they sign him before the end of the season, they must protect him in the Seattle expansion draft. If they don’t sign him, they don’t have to protect him, but Hyman could choose to go elsewhere. The right move is to sign Hyman early.

- Two weeks ago, I was told the NHL would play a 60-game season. Last week I was told a 56-game season. Now I’m hearing 56 might be more games than the NHL will have time for.
