- Only Dallas and Washington average more than three goals per game in the NHL. That’s it. Just two teams.

- Will the Edmonton Oilers ever get better? Here we are, at the all-star break, and the Oilers with a little bit of Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent Hopkins, and a lot of Leon Draisaitl and Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle and Cam Talbot and Darnell Nurse is tied for the least amount of points in the NHL with 43. Toronto, we understand. Columbus, sort of. But the Oilers? Still?

- The Florida Panthers got a bargain with the Aleksander Barkov signing. He will be underpaid within two years of signing the deal.

- The growth of American hockey: The Top 5 teams in U.S. college hockey have only 21 Canadian players on their playing rosters.
