Your Performers For The 2016 Winter Classic

NEW YORK (Dec. 21, 2015) – Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter Nate Ruess, alternative rock band American Authors, “The Voice” season 9 winner and recording artist Jordan Smith, and musicians from the Boston Pops are among the performers for the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic®, the New Year’s Day outdoor game between the Montreal Canadiens® and the Boston Bruins® at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., the National Hockey League announced today. The event will be broadcast live nationally on NBC in the U.S. and on Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada at 1 p.m. ET.

A full lineup of performances and special tributes for the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® will be announced in the coming days. IMG, a global leader in sports, fashion and media, will produce the pre-game and in-game performances and celebrations under the direction of Steve Mayer, who recently joined the NHL as Executive Vice President and Executive Producer of Programming & Creative Development.

American Authors
Singer Zac Barnett, guitarist James AdamShelley, bassist Dave Rublin and drummer Matt Sanchez hail from the four corners of the country, each bringing their own influences and experiences to the writing table to create pop-flavored alt rock sprinkled with four-part harmonies, spirited lyrics, and contagious optimism. Boston Pops

Jordan Smith
Hailing from Whitley County, Kentucky, 22-year-old Jordan Smith captured the hearts of audiences everywhere with his powerhouse voice to win the ninth season of NBC’s EMMY AWARD®-winning “The Voice.” With more than 1 million singles sold and more than 57 million cumulative streams of his performances on YouTube, the Republic Records recording artist has set his place in history as the highest-selling artist to ever emerge from “The Voice.” His rendition of the Queen classic “Somebody to Love” unseated Adele’s “Hello” from #1 on iTunes Overall Top Songs chart in a matter of hours, and moved 164K copies in its first week clinching #1 on Digital Songs Chart.
