Your Coaches For The 2017 NHL All-Star Celebrity Shootout

LOS ANGELES (Jan. 26, 2017) – Hockey Hall of Famers Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux will serve as head coaches for the 2017 NHL All-Star Celebrity Shootout, a friendly hockey game featuring 100 Greatest NHL Players honorees and celebrities from the worlds of movies, television and music. Team Gretzky and Team Lemieux will face off on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2:15 p.m. PT, prior to the 2017 Coors Light NHL All-Star Skills Competition™ at STAPLES Center. NHL.com and the NHL App will live stream the charity game.

Fans with tickets to the 2017 Coors Light NHL All-Star Skills Competition™ will be able to enter STAPLES Center to enjoy the NHL All-Star Celebrity Shootout™. Doors open at 2 p.m. PT.

The NHL All-Star Celebrity Shootout will feature more than a dozen hockey-playing celebrities, including actors Taylor Kitsch, Tim Robbins, David Boreanaz and musicianRoss Lynch. The full rosters for Team Gretzky and Team Lemieux will be announced after the unveiling of the 100 Greatest NHL Players at THE NHL100™ presented by GEICO event on Friday, Jan. 27.

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Robin Thicke, actresses Alyssa Milano and Retta, and Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine will serve as assistant coaches. Carter Thicke, the son of the late Alan Thicke and half-brother of Robin Thicke, also will play in the charity game, in honor of his father, who was a lifelong hockey fan. Both teams will wear jerseys that will feature a special patch dedicated to the beloved TV actor.

“This game should be an absolute thrill for the participants and for the fans,” said Los Angeles Kings President, Business Operations Luc Robitaille. “Seeing so many of the League’s greatest players on the ice once again will be something to remember and may not happen again anytime soon!”

The 2017 NHL All-Star Celebrity Shootout™ will benefit Echoes of Hope, a nonprofit organization founded by Luc and Stacia Robitaille, which strives to inspire hope in the lives of at-risk and emancipated foster youth. The organization assists youth in their pursuit of independence, empowerment and a post-secondary education. In 2016, Echoes of Hope assisted over 500 youth throughout the country.

The 2017 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend will begin with the opening of the 2017 NHL Fan Fair™, including the NHL® Centennial Fan Arena, on Thursday, Jan. 26; continue with the celebration of the 100 Greatest NHL Players at THE NHL100™ presented by GEICO on Friday, Jan. 27 (6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, SN, TVAS) and the 2017 Coors Light NHL All-Star Skills Competition™ on Saturday, Jan. 28 (4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET, NBCSN, CBC, SN, TVAS); and conclude with the 2017 Honda NHL® All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 29 (12:30 p.m. PT / 3:30 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, SN, TVAS).
