Winnipeg Jets' defenceman Zach Redmond was taken away by an ambulance this morning after suffering a serious cut to the back of his leg during a morning practice at PNC Arena.
The rookie blueliner was apparently slashed by a falling teammate's skate.
Several players and assistant coaches huddled around Redmond after it happened. Head coach Claude Noel was off the ice when the injury occurred.
Once the players cleared away, a lot of blood could be seen on the ice, and players like Antti Miettinen and Anthony Peluso came off the ice with blood stains visible on their socks and jerseys.

"He lost a lot of blood and was probably on the ice for 10-15 minutes as he was being treated before they took him off," said Brian Munz, play-by-play commentator for the Jets on TSN Radio 1290.
"The Jets and Hurricanes medical staff reacted quickly, along with the coaching staff and players present. They kept him as calm as stable as possible."
Jets head coach Claude Noel, whose club takes on the Hurricanes on Thursday night, said it was a "fairly wide cut," but was coherent.
"These things happen," he told a scrum after practice. "We were trying to get our extra players conditioned and it was a one-one-one battle at the net where (Redmond) tripped up and landed on his back and a player happened to step on him.
"He cut him just above the back of the knee. It's a fairly wide cut and he'll need to be taken to the hospital. He lost a fair amount of blood quickly. It looks like it was a vein. They got it tied up and pressure on it, but he'll be fine."
