from Ben Frederickson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
The Blues have now lost consecutive games to start a season for the first time since 2006-07. That team missed the postseason. I know, I know. It’s early. This is a postseason team. We think. Right?...
What followed from the post-game podium down the hall from a quiet dressing room was a direct challenge to the players who were trickling out.
The Blues, according to their coach, are not playing “real hockey” so far this season. They are not doing the little things it takes to win. They are too concerned with scoring and not concerned enough about taking care of the puck, playing sound defense and helping embattled goalie Jake Allen. They are surrendering their game plan to their opponents. Their breakdowns have breakdowns. Their minds are not in the right place.
Yeo even tiptoed right up to the edge of calling his own players soft. How else would you describe his scathing description of a lack of interest in blocking shots and corralling loose pucks. Who was he talking about, specifically? It might be a better exercise to eliminate the players he was not talking about.
below, watch the game highlights and Yeo metting with the media...
