Goalie. Opponent. Injuries. Adversity. Nothing seems to matter for the Carolina Hurricanes in this magical playoff ride.
No matter who’s in or who’s out, regardless of circumstances, the Hurricanes keep finding a way to win in this postseason. It happened again Wednesday.
This time it was their captain Justin Williams delivering the memorable moment. At 10:15 of the third period, the 37-year-old Williams knocked a puck out of mid-air into the net for the game-winning goal in a 5-2 win against the New York Islanders in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
After missing the playoffs for a decade, the Hurricanes, leading 3-0 in the best-of-seven series, are now one win short of advancing to the Eastern Conference finals.
