BLUES' SCORING LEADER MAKES THE DIFFERENCE IN WINTER CLASSIC WIN

St. Louis right wing Vladimir Tarasenko tallied a pair of third-period goals to break a 1-1 tie, lifting the Blues to a 4-1 victory over the Blackhawks in their first appearance in an NHL regularseason outdoor game. The Blues' leading scorer in 2015-16 following a 40-goal campaign (40- 34--74 in 80 GP) and to date in 2016-17 (18-23--41 in 38 GP), Tarasenko also has enjoyed success against the Blackhawks, tallying 14 goals and 20 points in the past 19 games against his Central Division rival (regular-season and playoffs). He currently ranks fourth in the NHL scoring race, two points behind Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins (16-27--43) and Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers (14-29--43) and one point back of Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby (26-16--42).

STEEN REACHES PAIR OF MILESTONES ON BLUES' OPENING GOAL

Blues forward Alexander Steen recorded an assist on the first St. Louis goal, reaching a pair of milestones in the process. Steen, skating in his 12th NHL season and 778th career regularseason game, notched his 300th career assist and 500th career point. He later scored the Blues' fourth goal into an empty net late in the third period.

HITCHCOCK MOVES CLOSER TO ARBOUR ON ALL-TIME WINS LIST

Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock, fourth on the NHL's all-time wins list, recorded his 777th career regular-season victory in the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic. Hitchcock moved within five wins of third-place Al Arbour (782) on the all-time list.

HOME TEAMS SWEEP PAIR OF OUTDOOR GAMES

One day after the Maple Leafs captured the 2017 Scotiabank NHL Winter Classic in Toronto, the Blues became just the seventh home team to win a regular-season outdoor NHL game (21 GP: 7-12-2). The others prior to Toronto and St. Louis: the Bruins in the 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic (2-1 OT W vs. PHI), the Flames in the 2011 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic (4-0 W vs. MTL), the Blackhawks in the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series (5-1 W vs. PIT), the Capitals in the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic (3-2 W vs. CHI) and the Wild in the 2016 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series (6-1 W vs. CHI). Road teams have picked up at least one point in 16 of the NHL’s 21 regular-season outdoor games (14-5-2).

BLACKHAWKS QUARTET TIES RICHARDS FOR MOST OUTDOOR APPEARANCES

The Blackhawks' Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews appeared in their fifth career NHL regular-season outdoor game, tying Brad Richards for the most among all players. Richards skated in three outdoor games with the New York Rangers, one with the Blackhawks and one with the Red Wings.
