The three highest-ranking members of the Blue Jackets hockey operations department are no longer in the final year of their contracts.
President of hockey operations John Davidson, general manager Jarmo Kekalainen and assistant general manager Bill Zito all signed two-year extensions, The Dispatch has learned, putting them under contract with the Blue Jackets through the 2018-19 season.
The Blue Jackets have experienced the best four-year run in franchise history since Davidson arrived, going 143-124-27 (.532). But they’ve qualified for the post-season only once in that span, falling one point short in 2012-13, losing to Pittsburgh in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2013-14, and collapsing under an endless wave of injuries in 2014-15.
