from Nick Kypreos at the Toronto Star,
"Yes, I'm stuck in the middle with you," the lyrics say. "And I'm wondering what it is I should do."
I have to wonder if Maple Leafs management and the fans of Leafs Nation are feeling that way about their team's fickle season.
Coming off of a 2-2 western road trip and an unconvincing overtime victory on Wednesday night against Winnipeg, the Leafs have continued a trend we've seen too often these last five seasons. They remained without a doubt the NHL's most unpredictable team.
A glaring question is still unanswered heading into next week's all-star break: Are the Leafs good enough to make a strong playoff push? Should they stock up at the trade deadline again, or change course and sell assets?
Your answer may depend on which version of the Leafs you believe in.
There were glimpses in each game or the recent road trip that they are capable of being better than a mid-level team. All four games were winnable, if not for avoidable mistakes.
