Nashville Predators -- This may seem an odd selection, given that Nashville currently occupies first place in the Central Division, but the Preds appear to be losing a bit of momentum lately and if I were head coach Peter Laviolette, I’d be a tad concerned. Beyond having one of the best goaltenders in Pekka Rinne, who is having himself a sensational season, Nashville also boasts an impressively deep, young and mobile defensive corps. Yet, the Preds haven’t been very stingy over the past few weeks. The have surrendered 23 goals in their past six games, 10 in their past two. It’s not time to panic, but the Preds could stand to clean some things up with their game heading into the All-Star Break.

San Jose Sharks -- Missing veteran center Joe Thornton, the Sharks were absolutely manhandled by the Blues on Saturday night. Sharks netminder Antti Niemi was pulled after giving up six goals, and after the game coach Todd McLellan blasted his time for being ill-prepared to compete both mentally and physically.

Montreal Canadiens -- The Habs just continue to climb, the team’s sixth straight win putting them in the top spot in the Eastern Conference, though they remain tied with the second-place Tampa Bay Lightning in points with 54. The Canadiens' 4-1 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday allowed them to pass Sidney Crosby and his mates for first place. Montreal has now won nine of its past 10 games.

Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals -- The Caps' superstar was terrific during the 2015 Winter Classic and he built on that captivating performance with his third consecutive multi-point effort this week, chipping in with a goal and an assist against in the Caps’ 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Sunday.

Tyler Johnson, Tampa Bay Lightning -- Absolutely no sophomore slump for Johnson, who tallied twice in the Lightning’s 4-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. The undrafted 24-year-old center has six points in his past three games and leads the Bolts in scoring with 15 goals and 43 points in only his second full season with the team.
