The Ducks have still not lost three games in a row all season. Game 4 is Wednesday night in Edmonton.
“It’s a long series,” McDavid said. “We’re still up 2-1. We’re still in a decent spot. We definitely didn’t deserve to win that one.”
Even after Talbot allowed his sixth goal on 21 shots halfway through the final frame, coach Todd McLellan left Talbot in to finish the game instead of bringing in Laurent Brossoit, as if to say this stinker was on the Oilers’ skaters, not just Talbot.
“That’s not on him, that’s on us players,” Patrick Maroon said. “Cam’s been there all year for us. That’s just being sloppy, not winning battles on the boards, not getting pucks out, not focusing on our structures.”
McLellan said “individual miscues were aplenty” so much so that he couldn’t even shorten his bench.
“There was that many that were erring on a consistent basis,” McLellan said. “We weren’t very good. The first (television) timeout, we were down by two. The second timeout, we were down by three. It wasn’t our night. We weren’t sharp enough.”
