Ticket Tuesday: Secondary Market NHL Ticket Movement

11/10/2015 at 2:55pm EST

By Joe Sudberg,

Another week into the NHL season brings us another weekly view at NHL tickets on the secondary market, with some familiar franchises leading the way in the standings and in terms of average ticket prices.

According to TiqIQ.com, the most expensive tickets of the week belong to the NHL points leader, the Montreal Canadiens, who are tied with the New York Rangers with the fewest amount of losses (two). Montreal hosts the Colorado Avalanche on November 14th at Centre Bell with an average ticket price of $227.85 and a get-in price of $57, which is surprising as the Avalanche are one of three teams with single-digit points. The poor play of the Avalanche nor the positive play of the Canadiens have affected secondary market ticket prices, as the average ticket price has been steady for multiple months. On September 10th, the average ticket price was $242.55.

The second most expensive game is at Madison Square Garden between the New York Rangers (10-2-2) and the Carolina Hurricanes (6-8-0). Not staying steady like the game mentioned above, the average price for secondary market Rangers tickets has been rising in the past few days. On November 4th the average ticket price was $171.03 before jumping up to an average price of $216 three days later. Currently, the average ticket price is $214.23 with a get-in price of $75 and is trending on getting more expensive towards the night of the game.

On the cheaper side of the equation, NHL hockey can be seen for as low as $2 for a game between the Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres on November 12th at the BB&T Center. The average ticket price is the lowest in the NHL this week after Monday night’s game between the Anaheim Ducks and Arizona Coyotes, coming in a $36 average and the aforementioned get-in price of $2.

When talking about value, there’s not many opportunities that arise NHL hockey for only $2. Lovers of the sport can find Miami flight deals on Hipmunk.com to watch it live in person. Hipmunk also has cheap Sunrise hotels starting from $69 to complete the hockey road trip.

In the top-five most expensive games on the secondary market this week, only the aforementioned Rangers game against the Hurricanes has a positively weekly trend.
