Ticket Tuesday: Secondary Market For NHL Tickets This Week Led By Blackhawks

01/12/2016 at 10:38pm EST

By Joe Sudberg,

The New York Rangers take a break from the top spot on the secondary market for the NHL this week, as the defending Stanley Cup champions take center stage this weekend.

According to TiqIQ.com, the Chicago Blackhawks are involved in the two most expensive NHL games on the secondary market this week and are the road team in the only game with an average ticket price over $300 this week. On Friday, January 15th the Toronto Maple Leafs will host the Blackhawks at the Air Canada Centre with an average ticket price of $397.65 with a get-in price of $109. It’s one of two games this week that has had a positive weekly trend as the average ticket price has been rising.

One week ago on January 5th the average ticket price was $371, but hit the $400 mark for the first time (in January) on the 8th ($400.92). The price will fluctuate above and below that mark until the puck drops. The Blackhawks play host in the second most expensive NHL tickets this week when they face the Montreal Canadiens at the United Center on Sunday, January 17th with an average ticket price of $279.34 and a get-in price of $119.

Like the Blackhawks, the Maple Leafs continue to linger among the top of the secondary market for NHL games even though they’re in second-to-last place in the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. For the third spot, the Maple Leafs travel to Boston to face the Bruins on January 16th with an average ticket price of $229.44 with a get-in price of $102. For the diehard traveling fans, Hipmunk.com has affordable Boston airfare for the weekend hockey getaway.

The Metropolitan Division takes over for the fourth and fifth spots with both games having the Rangers involved.

1/14/2016 | New York Islanders vs. New York Rangers | Barclays Center | Average Price: $227.11 | Get-in Price: $115

1/17/2016 | Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers | Verizon Center | Average Price: $215.50 | Get-in Price: $102

The Rangers are two points ahead of the Islanders, but have to travel to the Islanders’ home arena on January 14th and that game has an average ticket price of just below $230 and a get-in price of $115. If the Rangers have any plans of challenging the Capitals for the top spot in the division, January 17th is their chance to directly chip into the 16-point lead the Capitals have. Blue Shirt fans can complete the road trip by booking a Washington D.C. hotel starting from $78 for the game at the Verizon Center.
