Ticket Tuesday: Bruins-Leafs Tops This Week’s Most Expensive Games Despite Uninspired Starts

11/17/2015 at 7:00pm EST

By Joe Sudberg,

It hasn’t been the easiest of beginnings for the Boston Bruins, who at 8-7-1 sit in the lower tier of the Atlantic division above the Buffalo Sabres and cellar-dwelling Toronto Maple Leafs. They will generate this week’s most expensive ticket prices on the secondary market for a Saturday match with the Maple Leafs, however, and those prices have remained firm despite the poor play of both teams.

Other top-priced games this week include a meeting between the Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators and an Eastern Conference Finals rematch between the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers. Rounding off this week’s list will be the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils, who battle at Rogers Arena Sunday night.

Below is the complete breakdown of the week’s most expensive games on the secondary market, per TiqIQ.com:

11/21/2015 Boston Bruins vs Toronto Maple Leafs | Avg. Price: $187.76 | Get-in: $97

The two struggling Atlantic teams will square off at TD Garden Saturday in the most expensive game of the week. The average secondary market price for Bruins vs Maple Leafs tickets is $187.76, which has fallen just 4.2% from last Tuesday’s average of $196.06. However, the get-in price has increased significantly over the same timeframe, jumping from last week’s price of $72 to $97 this week – a 34.7% jump.

For those traveling from out of town, Hipmunk.com offers the best deals on flights and hotels in the Boston area. Boston hotels on Hipmunk can be found for as low as $125 per night.

11/21/2015 Minnesota Wild vs Nashville Predators | Avg. Price: $178.42 | Get-in: $91

Xcel Energy Center will be the hosting site of the week’s second most expensive game Saturday when the Minnesota Wild welcome the Nashville Predators. Wild vs Predators tickets currently average $178.42, marking a 5.3% increase from last Tuesday’s $169.40 average. The cheapest available ticket to Saturday’s game is now $91.

The Central division matchup will be a pivotal early season showdown for both sides. As of Tuesday the teams own identical 10-3-3 records and sit just five points behind the first-place Dallas Stars (14-4-0). Each has two games in-hand over the Stars, however, making a weekend win all the more important in the push to the top of the division.

11/19/2015 Tampa Bay Lightning vs New York Rangers | Avg. Price: $175.26 | Get-in: $35

It will be an Eastern Conference Final rematch at Amalie Arena in Tampa this Thursday as the Tampa Bay Lightning host the New York Rangers. As expected, the game is garnering big ticket demand on the secondary market, and prices have skyrocketed over the last week. The average price for Lightning vs Rangers tickets is currently $175.26, up 78.8% from last Tuesday’s average of $98.01. Those looking to get in can find tickets for $35.

The large spike in average price is likely due to the Rangers’ recent tear as of late. The team has won its last nine games and is tied with the Montreal Canadiens for the best record in the league with 30 points each. The Lightning, however, have had a difficult start despite their Stanley Cup Final appearance last season, going just 8-9-3 over their first 20 games.

11/22/2015 Vancouver Canucks vs New Jersey Devils | Avg. Price: $117.58 | Get-in: $30

Fighting for the top spot in the Pacific division are the Vancouver Canucks, who own a 7-6-6 record and sit just two points under the division-leading Kings. They’ll host the New Jersey Devils at Rogers Arena Sunday night and the average price for Canucks vs Devils tickets is currently $117.58 on the secondary market, just a .9% slide from last week’s $118.66 average. The cheapest ticket can be found for $30.

The Devils find themselves in the middle of the race in the Metropolitan division at 10-6-1. They’ve played exceptionally well over their last 10, going 7-3-0 during that time. They’ll hope to keep that momentum up when they travel to Vancouver this weekend.
