Three Canadian Teams Host Top Games On Secondary Market For This Weekend

By Joe Sudberg,

When looking at the secondary market for NHL tickets for games scheduled for this coming weekend, there’s one common thread for the three top games in terms of average ticket price. All the home teams are located north of the border.

The Montreal Canadiens host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Centre Bell for the most expensive game of the weekend according to TiqIQ.com with an average ticket price of $219.65 and a get-in price of $78. The second most expensive average ticket price is $170.13 with a get-in price of only $7 when the Winnipeg Jets host the Tampa Bay Lightning, who reached last season’s Stanley Cup Final but lost to the Chicago Blackhawks. The third most expensive game is when the Vancouver Canucks host the Detroit Red Wings at Rogers Arena with an average ticket price of $169.47 and a low get-in price of $6.

In addition to Canada being the lifeblood of the sport, the Canadian teams involved in the most expensive games all have had strong starts to the 2015-16 NHL season. The Canadiens currently hold first place in the Atlantic division in the Eastern Conference with 14 points in seven games and are a perfect 7-0 to start the campaign. The Canadiens have scored 23 goals and have only allowed seven, as goaltender Carey Price most recently made 38 saves in a shutout win against the St. Louis Blues. Price has two shutouts in his past three games as the starter.

The Jets are two points off the lead in the Central division in the Western Conference with eight points, with three teams tied with 10 points ahead of them. The Jets won four out of their first five games of the season before losing 4-2 to the Blues on October 18th.

Lastly, the Canucks have been playing well and are currently in second place of the Pacific division in the Western Conference. The Canucks have three wins and one loss, but have dropped their two overtime games this season. Still, the Canucks have eight points, which is tied with the San Jose Sharks.

Depending on which team fans are rooting for, Hipmunk.com is the No. 1 travel resource for this weekend, or any other hockey weekend throughout the season. Whether it’s reserving flights to Vancouver on Hipmunk for a weekend getaway, or planning for a Maple Leafs game with a Toronto hotel on Hipmunk, the most convenient trip can be created at a moment’s notice.
