from Doug Greenberg of Front Office Sports,
The average National Hockey League team is valued at over $1 billion for the first time in the league’s history, coming in at $1.03 billion.
Further, every team in the top 10 list of most valuable NHL franchises ranks at over a billion dollars.
The New York Rangers, worth $2.2 billion, a 10% increase from the previous year, is leading the way for the eighth consecutive year.
The following four teams — the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, and Boston Bruins — are all part of the Original Six; the sixth of the NHL’s original teams, the Detroit Red Wings, come in at 11th with a $1.03 billion valuation.
Taking that final spot in the top 10 is the Seattle Kraken — who also just so happen to be the league’s most recent expansion franchise, having begun play in 2021.
