The Talk Before Game 7 Of The Dallas Stars And St. Louis Blues Series

05/11/2016 at 8:17am EDT

from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News,

"It's an evenly matched series, and now it comes down to one game," said center Jason Spezza. "We know them, they know us, it's going to be a great game."

"We've worked hard all year to get to where we finished in the standings," said Stars captain Jamie Benn. "Obviously, home ice is a big part of this. We have a good record at home. We might have lost a couple games in this series at home, but it doesn't matter. We're going to be ready to go and it's huge to play in front of our fans.

"We would go into every game down the stretch trying to win and focus on what we have to do, but at the same time we were checking our phones and the scoreboard to see what they were doing," Benn said. "We've built a pretty good rivalry here, and what better way to settle it than Game 7?"

"I think we get to make up anything we want, we really do," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said to the media when asked what he expects. "You guys get to take any angle you want, and I could make up anything I want. There's going to be opportunities to seize or change momentum in the game because we have two really good teams that are going at it here, two really close teams, and you're going into a Game 7."

from Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,

The Blues could lose Wednesday night in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals against Dallas and see it all come to an end....

They could fall short, they could be on the verge of heading their separate ways for the offseason, and despite galvanizing the city more than any team in recent history, they could be set for a routine summer of scrutiny.

But if this is the outcome Wednesday, if Dallas does put an end to the Blues’ season, it would be an uncharacteristic way of going out for a club that has welcomed adversity this year, challenging it head-on at every corner of the ice.

“It’s a very proud group,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. “It’s a group that’s been resilient all year, it was built through adversity, a really proud group. I would be awful shocked if you didn’t get our ‘A’ game and our best game. If it’s not good enough, it’s not good enough.

“(But) this is a chance to knock off some really good hockey teams to get a chance to play in the conference final. Our guys should be pumped up to do it. The way we compete, we’re going to compete. We’re going to compete like hell. I know one thing: We’re going to come and we’re going to come after them, big time.”
