from Katie Strang of ESPN,
Both the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets picked up huge wins Thursday night, knocking the Los Angeles Kings from the top eight in the process. It is tough to bet against the defending Stanley Cup champs with those three teams battling for two playoff spots, but you have to admire the resolve of both Calgary and Winnipeg, considering these clubs weren't given much of a chance at making the playoffs at this season's outset.
The Flames downed the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 courtesy of rookie Johnny Gaudreau's three-point performance, and the Jets mounted a come-from-behind victory to edge the St. Louis Blues 2-1 in a shootout.
Meanwhile, the Kings are idle until Saturday when they host the Vancouver Canucks. Can't wait to see how this plays out. Calgary and Winnipeg are not going anywhere without a fight.
