The Playoff Experience

04/29/2019 at 7:14pm EDT

Most of you know I am a fan of the Detroit Red Wings but also do not let that fact get in the way when reporting on the Wings in the hockey section of KK.

However, I do have vast experience on playoff hockey.

Even though my memory is fading, I do have flashbacks to Detroit's dominating years, back when they were very good and want to pass on my playoff experiences as a fan of playoff hockey.

Before any playoff series begins, you'd probably want to visit ice hockey betting lines to see how your team looks in the series.

Yes, the tightening of the gut happens, even feeling like you have to gasp for air is a regular occurrence.

When my team lost, I refused to watch post-game videos, avoided reading about it and even turning the channel when highlights appeared of the game.

I just wanted the next game to start in order to see how my team handles the loss in the previous game.

Are they more engaged, is the defense doing their job, are the forwards playing a 200ft game, does the goaltender looks sharp?

All questions which are answered with a yes, made me feel more comfortable and again have confidence in my favorite team.

You also need to look at the other team. Are they playing the same way as their last game, maybe a little less determination or gret is normally a good sign for your team.

But isn't it funny how each game is different? Yes I have seen teams dominate in a series and sweep a team out quickly, but that doesn't happen as often as one may think.

There are so many ups and downs in each series played and if you team is lucky enough to advance to the Stanley Cup Final, well let's say you will feel drained and refreshed at the same time.

Sleep becomes secondary, nothing else matters but the next game. Your day clock is all messed up, hockey is the only thing on your mind.

Family? Forget it, focus is always on the line matchups, injuries, and of course the refs.

We got robbed, they are against us, the want the other team to win, Bettman is involved.

None of that is true, the other side feels the same way as you do so you see it all evens out.

In the end, one team wins, one team losses and we begin to get our life back, but not before going through the recovery period which can last from a few days to a few weeks.

Let it happen, memories will be made and look forward to next year.
