from Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette,
“You can’t expect to win games if you give up three goals,” said Therrien, whose team has lost three of its last four games by identical 3-2 scores.
This game should have been a gimme with the best team in the Eastern Conference facing one of the worst.
In some areas, the Canadiens did enough to win. They had a healthy edge on the shot clock, which was also the case in their 3-2 loss to Washington on Thursday night, and Therrien could have just as easily summed up the team’s recent woes by saying: “You can’t win if you only score two goals.”
There were other areas in which the Canadiens did not do well.
The Canadiens won only 42 per cent of their faceoffs and this failure was most evident in the third period. The Canadiens won seven faceoffs and lost 20.
