The Oilers have been skating around with a fork in them for most of February and nothing has changed.

Which begs the question: Are you good with this?

The answer, with most Oilers fans, I suspect, is a resounding, ‘Yes!’

They’re not delusional. I doubt if you could find many folks outside their dressing room holding out any hope for post-season play. But I believe they’re all for the team believing and/or at least playing for each other until the mathematical certainty that they’re officially out of it.

And I suspect the Oilers winning the No. 1 pick for a fifth time, a happening that would be derided, disdained and disparaged by the rest of the hockey world, might even be too embarrassing for Edmonton.

But maybe winning, say, the third pick, and getting Dylan Cozens of the Lethbridge Hurricanes … well, that might be OK.
