from Shawn Mitchell of Puck-Rakers at the Columbus Dispatch,
Maybe, just maybe, the Blue Jackets found a chunk of their long-missing identity tonight in Denver.
Heart-and-soul center Brandon Dubinsky made a key, three-zone play late in the game and scored the winning goal in 4-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche in front 18,007 in Pepsi Center.
Yes, that is correct. The winning goal.
The Blue Jackets, playing without All-Star center Ryan Johansen because of illness, also got two goals from Boone Jenner and a tying goal from Ryan Murray early in the third period and broke an eight-game, season-opening losing streak that was an NHL modern-era record.
Exhale. Smile. Then what?
“We celebrate it,” Dubinsky said, grinning. “It’s been a long while since we’ve e had this type of feeling in this dressing room. We’ll enjoy tonight, understanding that we’ve got to get to work and that this is the type of effort that we need to win in this league.”
“It was an effort that we were accustomed to before this year started. It was nice to get back to that. It was something certainly that we needed to build off of.”
