Even the rebuilding Toronto Maple Leafs couldn’t help the Blue Jackets reverse their rapid descent into the abyss last night in Nationwide Arena. The Blue Jackets gave up the final three goals of the game to lose 6-3 to the Leafs, falling to an NHL-worst 0-5-0.
It’s the worst start in franchise history, which – for this franchise – is really saying something.
The question from reporters are starting to sound all-too-familiar. The players' responses come out like broken records. Every once in a while you get a moment of raw emotion, where the frustration pushes through reason.
“The game started at 7 o’clock, and I don’t know if we were ready to start,” Blue Jackets center Brandon Dubinsky said.
“I’ve been through a lot of adversity in the nine years I’ve been in this league. It’s tough right now. We can go one of two ways. We can put our heads down and cry about it and feel sorry for ourselves and wake up to get our asses kicked tomorrow in Chicago. Or we can man-up, stick together as a group and try to find a way to get a win.”
