The Bowman's win one with 'Stan's team'

The Toronto Sun's Steve Simmons found that Chicago Blackhawks consultant Scotty Bowman was particularly tickled by his 13th Stanley Cup win, and his second with his son Stan, as the younger Bowman's second Cup win represented a win with a team Stan built himself:

This was the 13th Stanley Cup for Scotty Bowman, nine as a coach, four as an executive, a number that may never be matched. He has won in Montreal, Pittsburgh and Detroit, and now twice in Chicago – lucky number 13 Monday night. But this wasn’t his night. This was a night for the Blackhawks, for the sport, for the National Hockey League, and for the general manager who has won twice with the Blackhawks.

The first time, [Stan] won with Dale Tallon’s team. This time, he won with his team. And the timing and the ending and the spectacle couldn’t have been better.

“In Montreal, I was only 39, turning 40 in September when I won my first Cup,” Scotty said. “Stan’s 39 turning 40 on Saturday. Now he’s got me 2-to-1. I told him, if you want to catch me, you’ve got a lot of work to do the next 40 years.

“And I’m just so happy for Stan. He rebuilt this team. He put a lot of pieces in place. The core was still strong. But he had to do the finishing. In today’s game, that’s not an easy thing to do.”

Continued, Yahoo Sports' Nicholas J. Cotsonika penned a similar article, and NHL.com's Corey Masisak argues that the Chicago Blackhawks are now the NHL's "Model Franchise."
