from Joe Haggerty of CSNNE,
One has to wonder how many more seismic hits the Bruins can take before it starts to reveal some cracks in the foundation.
The Bruins have lost eight of their past 10, scored just 26 goals in those 10 contests and scored two goals or less in seven of those as a clear offensive slowdown has occurred with David Krejci out. It’s the exact same thing that happened last season when the Bruins dropped to 22nd in the NHL in offense with Krejci in and out of the lineup. The offensive drop-off has magnified other ongoing problems with the Black and Gold.
Those were on display Wednesday night in a 3-2 loss to the Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center, where the B’s scraped for two goals and then collapsed in the final 20 minutes again with Zdeno Chara on ice for all three goals scored by the Flyers. That’s a recipe for disaster for the Bruins and it will drag the team out of the playoff picture if it continues much longer.
The Bruins are locked into the final wild card spot with the same 47 points as the New Jersey Devils, but Boston has the inside track on the position right now by virtue of their two games in hand. That will change, however, if the Bruins keep blowing the games in hand they hold over the other teams in the East.
