from Jeff Miller of the OC Register,
Hockey, unlike any other sport, is one where players, especially defensemen, are going backward all the time. Teams, however, aren’t supposed to move that direction en masse.
With 27 points, the Ducks are seventh in the Pacific Division and 14th in the Western Conference, and finding a club that sits below them today would require including the AHL.
More than one-third of the way through the season, it isn’t too early to start to wonder if this is, in fact, what the Ducks are destined to be in 2015-16. Just not very good. Just another Columbus.
And this, only months after they were one victory away from playing for the Stanley Cup. Honest. You can believe me. I was in Honda Center in May when they dropped Game 7 to Chicago.
At the time, it was my understanding that the loss eliminated them from contention only as it related to last season.
