- He won’t say it, so we’ll say it for him: The altruistic P.K. Subban desperately wanted to be captain of the Montreal Canadiens. Jean Believeau is his hero. It must have hurt when his teammates selected Max Pacioretty ahead of him.

- I’m thrilled to know that the Carolina Hurricanes have gone heavily into analytics. I’d be even more thrilled to know they had a team that wouldn’t challenge, again, for the bottom half in the NHL?

- I asked Jonathan Bernier what will it take for him to become an elite goalie in the NHL? He said hard work. What he should have said: “I need to stop letting in soft goals early in games and I have to focus better.”
