Pre-game
* Carolina is 14-10 (.583) in Game 4 of best-of-seven series all time; Nashville is 9-10 (.474).

* When leading 2-1 in a best-of-seven, Carolina holds an all-time series record of 4-3 (.571); they are 4-0 (1.000) when they lead 3-1. When tied 2-2, the Hurricanes have an all-time series record of 6-6 (.500).

* When trailing 2-1 in a best-of-seven, Nashville holds an all-time series record of 0-10 (.000); they are 3-7 (.300) when tied 2-2. When trailing 3-1, the Predators have an all-time series record of 0-5 (.000).

* Brett Pesce (1-3—4) and Andrei Svechnikov (1-2—3) have each opened the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs on a three-game point streak. Teammate Sebastian Aho (5 GP in 2019-20) is the only player in Hurricanes/Whalers history with a longer stretch to begin a postseason.

* Roman Josi collected two assists in Game 3, including the primary helper on Matt Duchene’s game winner in double overtime. With 10-28—38 in 78 career postseason games (all w/ NSH), the Predators’ captain is two points shy of becoming the third player to record 40 points in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the franchise. He would join Filip Forsberg (28-24—52) and Ryan Johansen (15-29—44).

Pre-game
* Colorado is 25-19 (.568) in Game 4 of a best-of-seven series all time; St. Louis is 26-38 (.406).

* When leading 3-0 in a best-of-seven, Colorado holds an all-time series record of 4-0 (.1000); they are 11-2 (.846) when leading 3-1.

* When trailing 3-0 in a best-of-seven, St. Louis holds an all-time series record 0-9 (.000); they are 2-12 (.143) when trailing 3-1.

* The Avalanche sit one win away from advancing to the Second Round of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Colorado can sweep its opening-round series of a playoff year after winning the Presidents’ Trophy for the second time in franchise history (also 2001 CQF vs. VAN). Since the Presidents’ Trophy was first handed out in 1985-86, only three winners of the award have also accomplished the feat: Edmonton (1986 DSF vs. VAN), NY Rangers (1994 CQF vs. NYI) and Dallas (1999 CQF vs. EDM).

* Jordan Binnington looks to backstop the Blues to victory in Game 4 and help the club stave off elimination. Binnington owns a career playoff record of 16-18 and sits one victory shy of tying Greg Millen (17-17) and Mike Liut (17-20) for the most postseason wins by a Blues goaltender in franchise history.

Pre-game
* Boston is 36-46 (.439) in Game 5 of a best-of-seven series all time; Washington is 19-23 (.452).

* When leading 3-1 in a best-of-seven, Boston holds an all-time series record of 20-2 (.909); they are 22-5 (.815) when leading 3-2.

* When trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven, Washington holds an all-time series record of 2-9 (.182); they are 3-12 (.200) when trailing 3-2.

* The Bruins can become the fifth team since the start of the 2003 Stanley Cup Playoffs to win a best-of-seven series in four or more consecutive postseasons. They would join the Capitals (4: 2015 to 2018), Rangers (4: 2012 to 2015), Red Wings (5: 2007 to 11) and Sharks (4: 2004 to 08).

* Alex Ovechkin has posted 2-2—4 in the first four games of the First Round series versus Boston. Since entering the NHL in 2005-06, Ovechkin (13-11—24 in 26 GP) trails only Patrick Kane (7-18—25 in 21 GP) and Daniel Briere (11-14—25 in 22 GP) for the most points in a playoff game when facing elimination.

Pre-game
* Winnipeg is 2-4 (.333) in Game 3 of a best-of-seven series all time; Edmonton is 28-16 (.636).

* When leading 2-0 in a best-of-seven, Winnipeg holds an all-time series record of 1-0 (.1000); they are 2-0 (.1000) when they lead 2-1. They have never led a best-of-seven series with a 3-0 record.

* When trailing 2-0 in a best-of-seven, Edmonton holds an all-time series record of 1-7 (.125); they are 4-8 (.333) when trailing 2-1.

* Connor Hellebuyck (0.48 GAA, .986 SV%, 1 SO) has allowed one goal through the first two games of the Jets’ First Round series against the Oilers. Should the 2019-20 Vezina Trophy winner blank Edmonton again in Game 3, he would become just the fourth goaltender in the NHL’s modern era (since 1943-44) to allow one goal through his team's first three games of a playoff year while appearing in each contest. Patrick Lalime (2002 w/ OTT), Martin Brodeur (2001 w/ NJD) and Mike Richter (1994 w/ NYR) all did so.

* Despite being held off the score sheet through the first two games of the series, Connor McDavid enters Game 3 having recorded an NHL-leading 46 road points during the 2020-21 regular season (13-33—46 in 28 GP). Additionally, his 14 points in Winnipeg this season (4-10—14 in 5 GP) were the most by any player on the road against a single opponent in 2020-21.
