The NHL draft is not without trade scuttlebutt, and after offering a Friday morning slate of rumors, the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch offers more draft-day trade chatter, first confirming ESPN's Pierre LeBrun's statement that HALF the frickin' league has asked about Vincent Lecavalier--and explaining that the Lecavalier sweepstakes (he is available to talk to other teams already) has slowed down the trade market, Garrioch offers his usual set of scoops (corroborating CSN Philadelphia's Tim Panaccio's suggestion that the Flyers may try to snag Jarolsav Halak included):
THIS N' THAT: The negotiating rights of a couple of defencemen could move before the weekend: Boston's Andrew Ference and Winnipeg's Ron Hainsey are both scheduled to become UFAs. Neither will be kept by their current teams and it might make sense to get something in return before they test the market ... The Rangers have been quietly shopping 20-year-old centre J.T. Miller to see if they can get some proven help in return before Sunday's draft. He suited up for 26 games with New York last season, finished minus-7 and didn't live up to expectations. He was the club's top pick (No. 15 overall) in 2011 ... If Leafs GM Dave Nonis does move from No. 21, he'll try to get London Knights forward Max Domi, the son of former Toronto winger Tie Domi. "Max Domi would be the perfect fit for that team," said an Eastern scout. "He could help them right away and he's got a great shot. A solid player. Domi won't be there at No. 21."
