- All is not right in Hollywood. The Kings, who have a 2-7-1 record in the first 10 games of the season, will host the New York Rangers on Sunday and Los Angeles players are feeling the heat. While the finger has been pointed at coach John Stevens, the belief is GM Rob Blake is reticent to make a change, but that doesn’t mean he won’t. “It’s not something I’m going to get up and worry about,” Stevens told reporters when asked about his job security Saturday in El Segundo. “When you get into this business, you know that you’re going to be held accountable for the success of the team, and I totally get that.” As is the case for any GM, several of Blake’s friends around the NHL have called to offer to help and teams are starting to circle names on the Kings’ roster. The indications are forwards Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson are both garnering a lot of interest. Pearson, 26, has three years left on his deal with a cap hit of $3.75 million while Toffoli has two years left at $4.6 million.
- You have to wonder how much longer Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall can sit still? They were blown out 6-1 by the New York Islanders on Saturday and have now lost four straight as they prepare to face the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday at the Honda Center. The Flyers have fallen to 4-7-0; the trend can’t continue and the Flyers do have prospects if they want to add a forward with grit.
