The Chicago Blackhawks are the most successful team in the National Hockey League over the past decade, according to a new ranking developed by the Pittsburgh Business Times.
The Pittsburgh Business Times crunched 10 years of statistics — winning percentage, playoff appearances and championship titles were the metrics used — for the teams in the four major professional sports and ranked them based on an overall score that measured how much better or worse a team performed compared to the averages for each metric.
The Blackhawks came in on top with a 10-year score of 4.972, primarily on the strength of seven playoff appearances and three championships.
The worst NHL team during the period? That would be the Edmonton Oilers, with a 10-year score of -3.348, a lone playoff appearance and no championships.
continue for a breakdown of all 30 NHL teams. The top four are, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Anaheim.
