from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
... Terry Trafford was sent home from the Saginaw Spirit in his fourth season in the Ontario Hockey League for what his father calls “disciplinary reasons.” Some have said he was caught on the road smoking marijuana. Others have said he “was partying.”
“They sent him home,” said Roy. “They told him to go home and see your parents and come back next week. Jim (Paliafito, the general manager) called me and said Terry was being sent home to get his head straight.
“I figured he was going back to remake his commitment to the team and finish the season.”
But a second phone call from Paliafito changed everything. He left a message on Terry’s phone. He left a message on Roy’s phone. But Roy had left his cellphone in the car Saturday night.
“Jim said things had changed (in Saginaw). Unbeknownst to us, they didn’t want him back. I didn’t get the message. Terry did — but he didn’t tell me about it. I don’t think he told anybody. He didn’t want us to know. It was just normal on Saturday night but I was surprised he wasn’t watching his teammates play. That wasn’t normal for him.
