Predicting The Roster of Team Sweden for the Hockey World Cup 2025

09/21/2023 at 12:30pm EDT

With fewer than 18 months before the event, the hockey world is on the clock after the NHL recently announced it will host a competition in the format of the World Cup of Hockey in February 2025. The NHL and NHL Players' Association must first designate the rosters for the competition.

While there is still some time left on the table, there’s still an opportunity to find out more about the NFL, odds, predictions, and such. For those who want to bet on the upcoming NFL, you can utilize Caesars. A new Caesars Palace Online Casino is making its launch in New Jersey, offering new gambling and betting options to its players.

Today, we'll examine the likely composition of Team Sweden's roster.

Always keep in mind that there may be unforeseen changes to any team's team as injuries and changes in the level of competition will give some players jobs and take others away. The composition of the teams we're concentrating on will, however, generally be easy; the best athletes from each country should be the ones representing their country.

Team Sweden Roster Predictions

Goalies: Filip Gustavsson, Linus Ullmark, and Carl Lindbom.

Goalie Alternatives: Jacob Markstrom, Anton Forsberg, and Jesper Wallstedt.

Defense: Mattias Ekholm (RD), Erik Karlsson (RD), Victor Hedman (LD), Jonas Brodin (LD), Rasmus Andersson (RD), Rasmus Dahlin (LD), John Klingberg (RD), and Hampus Lindholm (LD).

Defense Alternatives: Rasmus Sandin (LD), Gustav Forsling (LD), and Oliver Ekman-Larsson (LD).

Forwards: Filip Forsberg, Elias Pettersson, Viktor Arvidsson, Jesper Bratt, Rickard Rakell, William Nylander, Leo Carlsson, Adrian Kempe, Joel Eriksson Ek, Mika Zibanejad, Elias Lindholm, and Gabriel Landeskog.

Forward Alternatives: Andrei Burakovsky, Gustav Nyquist, Lucas Raymond, Jakob Silfverberg, Mikael Backlund, Nicklas Backstrom, and Victor Olofsson.

Additional Insights

The attacking prowess of the Swedish front line is more than enough, and Lindholm and Eriksson Ek's two-way play is particularly strong.

Due to the little logjam in the middle, Pettersson is being moved from the center to the No. 1 position on the left flank. A generational shift is also apparent in Sweden, with young players like Carlsson, Dahlin, and Lindbom being considered for the team's future while veteran superstar Backstrom is demoted to the bottom of the depth chart and the outside of the team.

However, the Swedish squad won't be lacking offensively with great point scorers like Kempe, Nylander, Bratt, and Zibanejad to depend on. Both a second line with Zibanejad centered between Bratt and Forsberg and a top line with Pettersson and Nylander flanking Elias Lindholm will be very hard to play against. The fourth line with Arvidsson, Carlsson, and a (hopefully) healthy Landeskog will put pressure on the defenses of opponents. The third line, with Eriksson Ek centering Kempe and Rakell, won't be bad either.
