Series Scenarios
* Teams that hold 3-1 lead in a best-of-seven own an all-time series record of 295-30 (.908), including a 4-1 mark this postseason. Teams with a 3-1 lead in a best-of-seven series in the Stanley Cup Final hold an all-time record of 34-1 (.971), with the 1942 Maple Leafs accounting for the only come-from-behind series victory.

* The Canadiens hold an all-time record of a 56-39 (.589) in Game 5 of best-of-seven series, including 2-0 (1.000) this postseason and 14-6 (.700) in the Stanley Cup Final. When trailing 1-3 in a best-of-seven, they own an all-time series record of 3-18 (.143).

* The Lightning hold an all-time record of 15-12 (.556) in Game 5 of best-of-seven series, including 2-1 (.667) this postseason and 0-3 in the Stanley Cup Final. When leading 3-1 in a best-of-seven, they own an all-time series record of 12-0 (1.000).

Pre-Game
* Only two players in the last 10 years have had three-plus points in a potential Cup-clinching game: Los Angeles’ Dustin Brown in 2012 (1-2—3 in Game 6) and Boston’s Brad Marchand in 2011 (2-1—3 in Game 7).

* The most points by any player in a Cup-clinching game was five, set by Canadiens forward Toe Blake (1-4—5) in Game 4 of the 1944 Final.

* Four players in the last 10 years have scored multiple goals in a potential Cup-clinching game: Los Angeles’ Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis in 2012 (both w/ 2-0—2 in Game 6) as well as Boston’s Patrice Bergeron (2-0—2) and Brad Marchand (2-1—3) in 2011 (Game 7).

* Josh Anderson scored twice in Game 4 and became the second player in as many years to score multiple goals to help his team stave off elimination and extend the Stanley Cup Final series. Current Canadiens forward Corey Perry tallied twice – including the game-winning goal in double overtime – in Game 5 of the 2020 Final to help the Stars forced a Game 6 against the Lightning.

* Tampa Bay can become just the seventh franchise in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68) to have multiple Stanley Cup-clinching wins on home ice. Edmonton (4: 1984, 1985, 1987 & 1988), Montreal (3: 1968, 1979 & 1993), NY Islanders (3: 1980, 1981 & 1983), Detroit (2: 1997 & 2002), New Jersey (2: 1995 & 2003) and Los Angeles (2: 2012 & 2014) have all done so.

* The Lightning were 4-2 in potential series-clinching contests during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs and rebounded to close out the series in Game 6 on both occasions (CF & SCF). Since its first postseason berth in 1996, Tampa Bay has only dropped consecutive games in which it can clinch a series three times: 2018 (Game 6 & Game 7 of CF vs. WSH), 2016 (Game 6 & Game 7 of CF vs. PIT) and 2015 (Game 4 & Game 5 of R2 vs. MTL).

* A Stanley Cup-clinching win in Game 5 would mark the Lightning’s ninth victory at AMALIE Arena in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs, tying the franchise mark for most in a single postseason first set in 2004 – a run that concluded with a 2-1 victory at St. Pete Times Forum over Calgary in Game 7 of the Final.

* Andrei Vasilevskiy owns a career record of 17-7 following a postseason loss (2.06 GAA, .926 SV%, 4 SO), including a 13-0 mark dating to the start of the 2020 playoffs.

* Brayden Point, who scored the Cup-clinching goal in Game 6 of the 2020 Stanley Cup Final, can become just the third player in NHL history to score the Stanley Cup-clinching goal in consecutive years. Mike Bossy (1982 & 1983 w/ NYI) and Jack Darragh (1920 & 1921 w/ SEN) are the only skaters to do so.

* Nick Suzuki is also no stranger to overcoming a 3-0 series deficit. The forward was an instrumental part of the Guelph Storm besting the top-seeded London Knights in the Second Round of the 2019 OHL Playoffs after falling behind 3-0. Guelph would go on to hoist the J. Ross Robertson Cup as OHL champions.

* The Canadiens are just the fourth team in over 30 years to feature four or more players, each aged 21 or younger, with at least one goal in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The others: Maple Leafs in 2018 (5) and 2017 (4) as well as the 2008 Bruins (4).

* The Canadiens have seen a player 21 years old or younger record at least one point in 12 consecutive playoff games, dating back to Game 3 of the Second Round. Only three teams in NHL history have had a longer such streak: the North Stars (18 GP in 1981), Hurricanes (15 GP in 2006) and Rangers (13 GP in 1979).
