Series Scenarios
* Teams that hold a 2-1 lead in a best-of-seven series own an all-time record of 366-156 (.701), including a 4-2 mark in 2021.

* Teams that hold a 3-1 lead in a best-of-seven series own an all-time record of 294-30 (.907), including a 3-1 mark in 2021.

* When a best-of-seven series is tied 2-2, the winner of Game 5 holds an all-time record of 215-58 (.788).

Pre-game
* The Lightning own a record of 18-11 (.621) in Game 4 of best-of-seven series; the Hurricanes are 14-11 (.560).

* When leading 2-1 in a best-of-seven, Tampa Bay holds an all-time series record of 12-3 (.800); they are 11-0 (1.000) when leading 3-1. When tied 2-2, the Lightning have an all-time series record of 5-6 (.455).

* When trailing 2-1 in a best-of-seven, Carolina holds an all-time series record 5-5 (.500); they are 7-6 (.538) when tied 2-2. The Hurricanes have a series record of 0-4 (.000) when trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven.

* The road team has won each of the first four games in a Stanley Cup Playoffs series on 29 occasions, including 28 times in a best-of-seven and once in a best-of-five (1934 SF: DET vs. TOR). There has been at least one such series in each of the past five postseasons (2020 R1: VAN vs. STL, 2019 R1: STL vs. WPG, 2018 CF: WSH vs. TBL, 2018 R1: WSH vs. CBJ, 2017 R2: ANA vs. EDM and 2016 R1: NSH vs. ANA).

* Nikita Kucherov will enter Tampa Bay’s 10th game of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs with 3-11—14. Only two players since 2011 have had 12 or more assists through 10 games played in a postseason: David Pastrnak (14 in 2018) and Evgeni Malkin (13 in 2017). The last player with 15 or more points through his first 10 games of a postseason was Nathan MacKinnon last year (7-11—18).

* Sebastian Aho tied head coach Rod Brind'Amour for third place in franchise playoff history with his 20th career postseason assist on the overtime goal in Game 3. Aho, who has registered multiple points in each of the past six contests in which he has found the score sheet (dating to a regular-season hat trick on May 3 vs. CHI), also equaled another franchise icon in Game 3 – he matched Ron Francis for fourth place on the franchise playoff goals list (14).

* Andrei Vasilevskiy’s next playoff win will be the 40th of his career (68 GP). Should he win tonight, he would require the second-fewest games among active goaltenders to reach the 40-win plateau. Only Marc-Andre Fleury has reached the mark in fewer games (65 GP).

* The Lightning have not lost back-to-back playoff games in over two years. The team is 9-0 in games immediately following a loss dating back to the 2020 postseason.

Pre-game
* The Islanders own a record of 27-20 (.574) in Game 4 of best-of-seven series; the Bruins are 57-49 (.538).

* When leading 2-1 in a best-of-seven, Boston holds an all-time series record of 24-10 (.706); they are 21-2 (.913) when leading 3-1. When tied 2-2, the Bruins have an all-time series record of 18-17 (.514).

* When trailing 2-1 in a best-of-seven, New York holds an all-time series record 5-13 (.278) including a rally in the 2021 First Round against Pittsburgh; they are 6-6 (.500) when tied 2-2. The Islanders have a series record of 2-13 (.133) when trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven.

* Brad Marchand, who sits tied with Phil Esposito for fourth place on the all-time franchise playoff points list, has scored a goal in each of his last two games. Marchand has scored in three straight games within a playoff year four times in his career, including last month when he had one goal in each of Games 2-4 against the Capitals. Each of his three-game goal streaks have come within the last three postseasons (also Games 3-4 of 2019 CF vs. CAR and Game 1 of 2019 SCF vs. STL; Games 2-4 of 2020 R1 vs. CAR; and Games 1-3 of 2020 R2 vs. TBL).

* The Islanders will look to overcome a 2-1 series deficit to win a best-of-seven for the sixth time in franchise history after already doing so in the First Round this year against the Penguins. New York has never accomplished the feat multiple times in one playoff year (1976 QF vs. BUF, 1984 CF vs. MTL, 1987 DSF vs. WSH, 1993 DF vs. PIT and 2021 R1 vs. PIT).

* If Jean-Gabriel Pageau & Anthony Beauvillier get a point – the Islanders have multiple players with at least 10 points through the team’s first 10 games of a playoff year for the first time since 1983 (6).

* The Islanders have overcome a deficit in each of their last three victories. The last time the team came from behind in each of their previous four or more wins was in 1993 (5 GP; Games 3, 4 and 6 of DSF vs WSH and Games 1 and 4 of DF vs PIT).
