As a limousine driver and bodyguard for Canadian singer Roch Voisine in a former life, Michel Therrien understood the importance of checking the rear-view mirror.
As the coach of the Montreal Canadians, he steadfastly refuses to look there.
“Honestly, I haven’t mentioned it to the players and I haven’t heard them talk about it once,” Therrien said Monday, of his club’s franchise record nine-win start to the 2015-16 National Hockey League season, all regulation victories....
And if the Canadiens make a clean sweep of B.C. and Alberta on this trip — not out of the question, considering the Vancouver Canucks haven’t won at home yet this season, and the Flames are stumbling and the Oilers are only starting to figure it out — they would tie the franchise record winning streak (at any point in the season) of 12, set in 1968.
“We haven’t accomplished anything yet,” insists Habs’ relentless forward Brendan Gallagher, the former Vancouver Giants bulldog.
“We’re nine games into the season. There’s things we have to improve on, like every other team. To get where we want to go it’s going to take a lot more hard work. We’re willing to put that in.”
