OVECHKIN SCORES 20TH GOAL, CLIMBS MULTIPLE ALL-TIME LISTS
Alex Ovechkin (1-1—2) scored the game-winning goal to become the first NHL player to reach 20 goals this season and propel the Capitals (16-11-1, 33 points) to their fifth win in their last six contests.

* Ovechkin, a six-time Maurice Richard Trophy winner, scored his 578th career goal to surpass Mark Recchi and move into the top 20 on the NHL’s all-time list. Flames forward Jaromir Jagr (766) is the only active player with more career goals.

* Ovechkin also notched his 97th career game-winning goal to pass Mats Sundin (96) for sole possession of 11th on the NHL’s all-time list. Jagr (135) – who holds the all-time record – and Maple Leafs forward Patrick Marleau (103) are the only active skaters with more career game-winning tallies.

* Ovechkin – who has never scored less than 32 goals in a season entering 2017-18 – became the 11th player in NHL history to begin his career with 13 consecutive 20-goal seasons. He tallied his 20th marker while skating in his 28th contest, the fourth-fastest span in terms of games played he has reached the 20-goal mark in a single season (22 GP in 2013, 22 GP in 2009-10 and 27 GP in 2007-08).

* Since entering the League in 2005-06, Ovechkin leads all NHL players in goals (578), points (1,063), game-winning goals (97) and power-play goals (218).

PREDATORS RIDE HOT LINE TO HOME WIN
The line of Craig Smith (2-1—3), Kevin Fiala (1-1—2) and Kyle Turris (0-2—2) combined for 3-4—7 to help the Predators (17-7-3, 37 points) improve to 11-2-1 at Bridgestone Arena and match the Rangers (11-5-2) for the League lead in home victories.

* Since Turris was acquired by the Predators in a three-team trade with Ottawa and Colorado on Nov. 5, the line of Turris, Smith and Fiala has combined for 32 points in 12 games (13-19—32) – Nashville owns a 9-2-1 record in those contests.

* Elias notes that Filip Forsberg, who scored his 14th goal of the season to extend his home point streak to 14 games, is the only player in the NHL to record at least one point in each of his team’s home games this season (11-9—20 in 14 GP).

METROPOLITAN DIVISION TEAMS SECURE VICTORIES
The Islanders (16-8-2, 34 points) and Flyers (9-11-7, 25 points) both secured victories on Monday:

* The Islanders and Panthers each held the lead on two separate occasions in a seesaw affair before Mathew Barzal notched the shootout-clinching goal to propel New York to 8-2-0 in its last 10 contests. John Tavaresscored to boost his career totals to 252-315—567 and pass Pat LaFontaine (287-279—566) for sole possession of sixth place on the franchise’s all-time points list.

* Jakub Voracek (0-3—3) led the offense with three points and Michael Raffl 1-1—2 notched the game-winning goal to help the Flyers snap a 10-game slide (0-5-5). Voracek, who recorded his fourth three-point game of the season, ranks second in the League in assists (26; tied) and sixth in points (7-26—33; tied).

KINGS, STARS AND CANADIENS LOOK TO PUSH WIN STREAKS TO SIX

The Kings (17-8-3, 37 points), Stars (16-10-1, 33 points) and Canadiens (13-12-3, 29 points) each look to push their winning streak to six games, which would match the longest such stretch in the NHL this season (CBJ: 6-0-0 from Nov. 11 – Nov. 24; TOR: 6-0-0 from Nov. 6 – Nov. 18; NY Rangers: 6-0-0 from Oct. 31 – Nov. 11).

* All three clubs have used strong offensive showings to outscore their opponents by at least 12 goals over the five-game streak (MTL: 24-6; DAL: 23-11; LAK: 18-6).

* Goaltenders Carey Price of the Canadiens (5-0-0, 1.20 GAA, .962 SV%, 1 SO), Jonathan Quick of the Kings (4-0-0, 1.23 GAA, .952 SV%, 1 SO) and Ben Bishop of the Stars (4-0-0, 2.20 GAA, .930 SV%, 1 SO) have each padded their personal winning streaks while playing a major role in their respective club’s five-game run.
