BARZAL WRITES ISLANDERS ROOKIE HISTORY IN WIN
Mathew Barzal
(0-5—5) factored on five of six goals to become the first rookie in Islanders history to record five assists in a game and propel his club to 8-5-1 (17 points) this season.

* Per Elias, Barzal also became the first Islanders rookie to record five points in a game since John Tavares (2-3—5) on Mar. 16, 2010 and just the sixth rookie since 2006-07 to register five or more points in single contest.

* The NHL record for points in a game by a rookie is eight, set by brothers and Nordiques teammates Peter Stastny (4-4—8) and Anton Stastny (3-5—8) in the same game on Feb. 22, 1981.

* Josh Bailey (0-2—2) extended his career-high point streak to nine games (2-14—16), the longest active point streak in the NHL. Per Elias, Bailey’s nine-game run is the longest by an Islanders player since Thomas Vanekrecorded points in 10 consecutive games from Dec. 20, 2013-Jan. 7, 2014 (5-10—15 in 10 GP).

* The Islanders improved to 5-0-1 at Barclays Center this season, their best six-game home start since 1982-83 (6-0-0).

AVALANCHE HEAD TO SWEDEN
The Avalanche – who despite Sunday’s loss to the Islanders are 3-1-0 in their past four contests – will now travel overseas for the 2017 SAP NHL Global Series, a doubleheader set against the Senators at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden on Nov. 10 and 11.

ICYMI: The two teams participating in the 2017 SAP NHL Global Series, the Avalanche and the Senators, were part of a three-way trade with the Predators on Sunday that saw Matt Duchene dealt to Ottawa. Click here for full details on the trade that included six players and three draft picks.

FIRST SHUTOUTS OF THE SEASON LIFT TEAMS TO VICTORY
The Canadiens and Red Wings earned wins on the back of shutout performances from their respective goaltenders:

* Canadiens goaltender Charlie Lindgren made 38 saves in his first appearance of the season to record his first NHL shutout and improve his career record to 4-0-0 (1.24 GAA, .960 SV%, 1 SO). The only Canadiens rookie goaltender to record more than 38 saves in a shutout was Tony Esposito (41 saves) on Dec. 21, 1968.

* Petr Mrazek turned aside all 36 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season (11th career) and help the Red Wings improve to 3-1-0 in their past four contests.

FLAMES EARN THIRD CONSECUTIVE WIN
Sean Monahan
(1-1—2) and Johnny Gaudreau (0-2—2) recorded multi-point efforts to extend their respective point streaks to four games and Matthew Tkachuk tallied the decisive marker in the shootout to lift the Flames(8-6-0, 16 points) to a third consecutive victory.

* Flames goaltender Mike Smith made 26 saves to improve to 8-5-0 this season (2.32 GAA, .932 SV%, 1 SO). Smith’s niece, Elle, who is battling cancer, was part of a special ceremony prior to the game as part of Calgary’s Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night.
