BLUE JACKETS, PENGUINS CONTINUE WINNING WAYS
The Blue Jackets (28-7-4, 60 points) rebounded from back-to-back losses to become the first 60-point team in the NHL while the Penguins (26-8-5, 57 points) won their first game of 2017 to move into a share of second place in the League standings:

* The Flyers tied the game with 16.5 seconds remaining in regulation but Nick Foligno scored in overtime to help the Blue Jackets halt a two-game skid that followed their record-setting 16-game win streak. Foligno scored his 14th goal of the season (37 GP) – two more than he totaled in 2015-16 (72 GP) – to help Columbus move within 16 points of their total from last season (34-40-8, 76 points).

* Six different players scored for the Penguins as they earned their fifth consecutive win and improved to 13-1-2 in their past 16 contests dating to the start of December – their lone regulation loss coming at the hands of Columbus on Dec. 22 (7-1 L). Pittsburgh also extended its home point streak to 12 games dating to Nov. 26 (11-0-1) to boost its League-leading home record to 18-2-2 (38 points).

WILD EARN VICTORY IN BOUDREAU’S RETURN TO ANAHEIM
Matt Dumba and Jared Spurgeon scored 1:42 apart in the second period to lead the Wild to victory in head coach Bruce Boudreau’s return to Anaheim, where he served behind the bench for parts of five seasons (2011-2016). Minnesota improved to 14-1-2 in its past 17 games dating to Dec. 2, a run that includes a 10-game road point streak (8-0-2).

HOME ICE ADVANTAGE
Five of the six games contested Sunday were won by the home team, including victories by the Blackhawks (26-12-5, 57 points), Senators (21-14-4, 46 points) and Hurricanes (18-15-7, 43 points). Via Elias, home teams own a 352-191-64 record this season (.633).

* The Predators tied the game early in the third period, but Ryan Hartman responded with a natural hat trick to lift the Blackhawks to a 3-0-0 mark on their four-game homestand. Elias notes that Hartman became just the third Blackhawks player to score three times in any period over the past 22 seasons, joining Patrick Sharp (Nov. 17, 2007 at DET: 3 in 3rd) and Dustin Byfuglien (Nov. 30, 2007 vs. PHX: 3 in 1st) who each achieved the feat in November, 2007.

* Ahead 2-0, the Senators yielded three straight Oilers goals before Mark Stone (1-2—3) scored to help Ottawa regain the lead en route to victory. Stone (12-19—31 in 38 GP) matched a career high for points in a game to move within one point of Erik Karlsson (7-25—32 in 39 GP) for the team scoring lead.

* Hurricanes rookie Sebastian Aho (2-0—2) scored his first career game-winning goal at 1:34 of overtime to help Carolina improve to 11-1-1 in their past 13 games at PNC Arena (after beginning the season 1-3-0 on home ice). Aho, 19, ranks third in team scoring and seventh among NHL rookies with 10-13—23 this season (40 GP).

LOOSE PUCKS
Sidney Crosby (26-18—44 in 33 GP) tallied 0-2—2 and Patrick Kane (12-32—44 in 43 GP) posted 0-3—3 as the pair moved into a share of second in League scoring, behind Oilers captain Connor McDavid (14-34—48 in 42 GP), who also had two helpers . . . Penguins defensemen Justin Schultz, who led NHL defensemen with 6-12—18 in December (15 GP), notched an assist to push his point streak to five games (1-4—5) . . . Teammate PhilKessel (2-4—6) also extended his point streak to five games . . . Joel Quenneville (CHI) became the third head coach in NHL history to serve 1,500 career regular-season games, joining Scotty Bowman (2,141) and Al Arbour (1,607) . . . Lightning defenseman Jason Garrison played in his 500th career game.
