MILLER, GRANLUND LEAD CANUCKS TO SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN
Ryan Miller made 44 saves – including 22 in the third period – and Markus Granlund (2-1—3) collected a career-high three points against his former club to help the Canucks earn their sixth consecutive win.

* Miller extended his personal win streak to five games and improved to 12-10-1 this season (2.62 GAA, .915 SV%, 1 SO). He earned his 352nd career victory to move within one of tying Evgeni Nabokov (353) for 20th on the NHL’s all-time list among goaltenders.

MAPLE LEAFS, MATTHEWS EXTEND STREAKS
Toronto raced to a 4-0 lead in the first period and held off a late push to extend their overall point streak to seven games (6-0-1) and their road point streak to eight contests (6-0-2). At 18-12-8 (44 points) overall, the Maple Leafs moved into third place in the Atlantic Division standings.

* Auston Matthews scored the game-winning goal to extend his point streak to eight games (7-5—12) and ranks tied for first among rookies with 21 goals this season (38 GP). Since ending a 13-game drought on Nov. 23, 2016, Matthews paces the entire NHL with 15 goals (19 GP).

* Elias notes that Matthews became the first Maple Leafs rookie to record at least one point in eight consecutive team games since Daniel Marois from March 7-22, 1989 (8-3—11).

LATE OVERTIME GOALS POWER DUCKS, AVALANCHE TO VICTORY
The Ducks and Avalanche each secured victories via last-minute overtime goals:

* Ondrej Kase scored with 35.6 seconds left in overtime as Anaheim stretched their home point streak to eight games (7-0-1), including three consecutive wins.

* Nathan MacKinnon (1-1—2) scored with 16.1 seconds remaining in the extra frame as Colorado snapped a five-game slide (0-5-0).

LOOSE PUCKS
Scott Darling turned aside 39 of 40 shots and Artemi Panarin scored the game-winning goal in the second period to guide the Western Conference-leading Blackhawks (25-12-5, 55 points) to victory . . . Jonathan Marchessault scored the go-ahead goal with 9:53 remaining in regulation to lead the Panthers to a 2-1 win . . . Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk (0-1—1) extended his point streak to eight games (1-8—9). Elias notes that Tkachuk became the first Flames rookie to record at least one point in eight or more consecutive team games since Joe Nieuwendyk registered a 14-game point streak from Dec. 20, 1987 – Jan. 21, 1988 (15-14—29), the longest such run by a rookie in franchise history . . . Flames forward Mikael Backlund (6-5—11), Canucks forward Bo Horvat (2-5—7) and Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman (0-7—7) each extended their point streak to six games . . . Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane (0-1—1) skated in the 700th game of his NHL career . . . Devils goaltender Cory Schneider made his 300th career NHL appearance . . . Predators forward Vladislav Kamenev made his NHL debut . . . The Predators signed defenseman Matt Irwin to a one-year contract . . . FOUR-GAME DOCKET SET FOR HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA
Hockey Night in Canada begins with three contests at 7 p.m. ET: The Canadiens aim to pick up their 13th consecutive win against the Maple Leafs dating to March 1, 2014 when they conclude their season-long seven-game road trip in Toronto; the Senators look to rebound from a 2-1 loss on Jan. 1 at Verizon Center when they take on the Capitals again; and Devils forward Taylor Hall faces his former club for the first time when the Oilers visit Prudential Center. In the penultimate contest of Saturday’s 12-game slate, the Flames host the Canucks in the second half of their home-and-home series.
