* The first-place Blue Jackets (23-5-4, 50 points) also established a franchise record by extending their point streak to 14 games (13-0-1). Bobrovsky, meanwhile, pushed his personal win and point streaks to 10 and 12 games (11-0-1), respectively, to establish career highs and club records for each.

* The Wild scored five times in the second period – including two goals in a span of 18 seconds in the first minute – en route to establishing franchise records for consecutive wins (10) and games with a point (10-0-1).

* Charlie Coyle (1-3—4), Jason Zucker (1-2—3) and Mikko Koivu (1-2—3) paced the Wild offense, which scored five goals in one period during a regular-season road game for the first time in franchise history. The only other five-goal periods in club history: May 5, 2003 at VAN (5 in 2nd; playoffs), Oct. 19, 2005 vs. SJS (5 in 3rd) and Feb. 22, 2015 vs. STL (6 in 3rd).

Elias notes that Minnesota’s Bruce Boudreau became the first head coach in NHL history to lead different teams to 10-game win streaks in consecutive seasons. In 2015-16, Boudreau was behind the bench when the Ducks reeled off an 11-game win streak from Feb. 13 – March 5.

* Elias adds that Boudreau, who also led the Capitals to a 14-game win streak in 2009-10, is the only head coach in League history to guide three different teams to single-season win streaks of at least 10 games. The only others to achieve the feat with two teams are Scotty Bowman (10 w/ 1983-84 Sabres and 17 w/ 1992-93 Penguins) and Joel Quenneville (10 w/ 2001-02 Blues, 11 w/ 2012-13 Blackhawks and 12 w/ 2015-16 Blackhawks).

MATTHEWS TALLIES ASSIST IN HOMECOMING; MILESTONE NIGHT FOR DOAN
On a milestone night for Coyotes captain Shane Doan, it was Arizona native Auston Matthews who helped his team to victory with an assist on the game’s opening goal. Matthews, who shares the Maple Leafs lead and second among NHL rookies with 16-10—26 (33 GP), found the score sheet just 3:04 into his first NHL game in his home state – after taking the opening face-off against Doan, his childhood idol. Doan, meanwhile, scored his 400th career goal while becoming the third active player to skate in 1,500 career games.

PENGUINS, HURRICANES CONTINUE HOME-ICE SUCCESS
The Penguins and Hurricanes each extended lengthy home point streaks:

* Sidney Crosby scored for a third straight game to help the Penguins improve to 15-2-2 at PPG Paints Arena and extend their home point streak to nine games (8-0-1). Crosby’s League-leading 24th goal of the season (27 GP) counted as his ninth power-play goal of the campaign, also tops in the NHL. The marker was the 110th power-play goal of Crosby’s career, placing him in a tie for third place in franchise history behind Mario Lemieux (236) and Evgeni Malkin (112).

* The Hurricanes overcame a 2-0 deficit to set the stage for Teuvo Teravainen’s goal in overtime as the club extended its home point streak to 10 games (9-0-1), their longest such run since a 12-0-0 stretch from Feb. 20 – April 7, 2009. Cam Ward (31 saves) has been the goaltender of record eight times during the team’s current streak at PNC Arena, posting a 7-0-1 record in that span (1.50 GAA, .945 SV%, 2 SO).

Braden Holtby (23 saves) recorded his 26th career shutout and John Carlson scored twice as the Capitals improved to 7-1-2 in their past 10 games . . . The Flames scored four unanswered goals – including the tying and winning markers by captain Mark Giordano – to extend their point streak against the Canucks to six games (5-0-1) . . . John Tavares was one of five different players with a goal in the Islanders’ victory . . . Rookie Kevin Labanc scored twice, including the overtime winner, to help the Sharks (21-12-1, 43 points) move ahead of the Oilers (18-12-6, 42 points) into sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division . . .
