BLUE JACKETS ERUPT FOR SEVEN GOALS IN 11TH STRAIGHT WIN
The Blue Jackets scored seven unanswered goals – powered by Scott Hartnell’s ninth career hat trick – to extend their franchise-record win streak to 11 games and move into a share of first place in the overall NHL standings.

* The Blue Jackets (22-5-4, 48 points) are tied in terms of points with the Blackhawks (22-9-4, 48 points), but Columbus holds four games in hand.

* Columbus’ win streak is the longest in the NHL since last season, when Anaheim (11-0-0: Feb. 13 – March 5), Chicago (12-0-0: Dec. 29 – Jan. 19) and Florida (12-0-0: Dec. 15 – Jan. 10) each had undefeated runs of at least 11 games.

* The Blue Jackets also halted the Penguins’ point streak at 10 games and pushed their own to 13 games (12-0-1), matching a franchise record set from March 18 – April 11, 2015 (also 12-0-1).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: THE COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS
A closer look at the Blue Jackets’ best start in franchise history:

* The Blue Jackets’ 22 wins and 48 points are their highest totals through the first 31 games of a season in franchise history, shattering previous marks of 16 wins and 35 points set in 2010-11.

* Columbus has scored at least seven goals three times in 2016-17, equaling their number of seven-goal performances from the previous five seasons combined.

* The Blue Jackets rank fourth in the League with 108 goals for, while their 64 goals against are second-fewest behind the Wild (62). Columbus’ plus-44 goal differential is the highest in the NHL.

* Cam Atkinson triggered the offense with his team-leading 15th goal of the season, extending his career-high point streak to eight games (7-6—13). He leads the team and shares seventh in the NHL with 15-19—34 this season (31 GP).

* Sergei Bobrovsky (25 saves) matched career highs by extending his personal win and point streaks to nine and 11 games (10-0-1), respectively. He leads the League with 20 wins this season, reaching the mark in only 27 appearances.

WILD MATCH FRANCHISE RECORD WITH NINTH STRAIGHT WIN
The Wild faced a pair of one-goal deficits before Eric Staal scored the go-ahead goal while shorthanded to help Minnesota match a franchise record with its ninth consecutive victory.

* The Wild also extended their point streak to 10 games, equaling a franchise record set from March 8-27, 2007 (9-0-1) and matched from Jan. 20 – Feb. 14, 2015 (8-0-2).

* Staal scored his team-leading fifth game-winning goal of the campaign (after going without such a goal in 2015-16) to move within one of the League lead and extend his point streak to six games (5-3—8). He also shares the team lead with 11 goals in 2016-17 (32 GP), two back of his total from last season (83 GP w/ CAR & NYR).

* Devan Dubnyk made 32 saves to extend his career-high win and point streaks to eight and 12 games (10-0-2), respectively. Since making his debut with the Wild on Jan. 15, 2015, Dubnyk has played more games (132) and recorded more shutouts (15) than any other goaltender. He also ranks second in wins (76), goals-against average (2.01) and save percentage (.930) among goaltenders with at least 40 appearances over that span.

LOOSE PUCKS
Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers posted 2-1—3 while teammate Patrik Laine scored his 19th goal of the season, tops among rookies and tied for second overall . . . Auston Matthews scored the game-winning goal – his 10th goal in the past 13 games – and Frederik Andersen made 38 saves to post his first shutout with the Maple Leafs . . . Peter Budaj (28 saves) and Cory Schneider (16 saves) also record shutouts for the Kings and Devils, respectively . . . Jonathan Drouin collected 2-1—3 as the Lightning erased a 2-0 deficit with five unanswered goals. Drouin has 7-6—13 this month (9 GP), compared to 3-4—7 in his first 17 games of the season . . . Mike Hoffman scored in overtime to help the Senators enter the holiday break on a four-game win streak . . . Justin Faulk scored his 12th career game-winning goal (all w/ CAR) to move into sole possession of first place among defensemen in Hurricanes/Whalers franchise history . . . Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron scored his third game-winning goal of the season (five goals total) . . . Penguins captain Sidney Crosby scored his League-leading 23rd goal of the season . . . Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman tallied three assists to extend his point streak to five games (1-9—10) . . . Kings forward Anze Kopitar (700) and Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk (300) recorded milestone points . . . Blues forward Wade Megan (NHL debut) and Maple Leafs forward Frederik Gauthier (9 GP) each scored their first NHL goal . . . MATTHEWS’ FIRST NHL GAME IN ARIZONA HIGHLIGHTS 12-GAME SCHEDULE
While the Blue Jackets and Wild put their franchise-record win streaks on the line on the final night before the NHL’s holiday break, Maple Leafs rookie Auston Matthews heads to Arizona for his first NHL game in his home state. Matthews, who grew up in Scottsdale, Ariz., and attended his first Coyotes game at age two, scored in his first NHL game against the club on Dec. 15. The NHL’s second-leading scorer among rookies (16-9—25 in 32 GP) grew up idolizing Arizona’s current captain Shane Doan, who is set to skate in his 1,500th career NHL game.
