BLUE JACKETS EARN EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY
Four different skaters found the back of the net as the Blue Jackets extended their win streak to eight games and improved to 13-1-2 in their past 16 contests. Columbus’ eight-game run is their longest win streak since posting a franchise-record nine consecutive victories from March 18 – April 4, 2015.

* At 19-5-4 (42 points), the Blue Jackets moved within two points of the Penguins (20-7-4, 44 points) and Blackhawks (20-8-4, 44 points) for the top spot in the NHL. Columbus has three games in hand on Pittsburgh and four on Chicago.

* Sergei Bobrovsky made 22 saves to pick up his seventh consecutive victory and improve to 18-5-2 overall (1.90 GAA, .935 SV%, 3 SO). His 18 victories this season pace all goaltenders and are three more than he recorded in 2015-16 (37 GP).

CAPITALS, SHARKS ALSO EXTEND WIN STREAKS
The Capitals and Sharks also secured victories to extend their respective win streaks:

* T.J. Oshie scored the game-tying goal with 6:04 left in regulation and added the decisive marker in the shootout to help Washington pick up their sixth straight victory and snap Carolina’s home win streak at seven games. Alex Ovechkin scored his 201st career power-play goal to pass Mark Recchi (200) for sole possession of 18th on the NHL’s all-time list. Philipp Grubauer made 27 saves and stopped both attempts in the shootout to improve to 5-1-1 this season (1.84 GAA, .934 SV%, 1 SO).

* The Sharks opened the scoring with four consecutive goals, including three in the first period, en route to their fourth straight win. Timo Meier, the ninth overall selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, scored the game-winning goal in his League debut. Brent Burns, who leads all defensemen with 13-16—29 this season, notched an assist to extend his point streak to seven games (4-4—8).

RISTOLAINEN (AGAIN) LEADS SABRES TO OVERTIME WIN
Rasmus Ristolainen (1-1—2) scored 42 seconds into overtime to guide the Sabres to their third win in their last four outings. The 22-year-old defenseman extended his point streak to five games (2-7—9) and leads team blueliners with 2-19—21 this season, scoring both of his goals in overtime (also Dec. 6 vs. EDM). Elias notes that Ristolainen became the fourth Sabres defenseman to score multiple career overtime goals, with both of his tallies coming in the past four games.

LOOSE PUCKS
Peter Budaj (39 saves) and Tyler Toffoli (OT winner) helped the Kings improve to 9-3-1 in their last 13 contests and snap Pittsburgh’s win streak at seven games . . .
